HOW TO STYLE SWEATPANTS
A little effort + some key accessories will make all the mama’s at the park think you spent hours getting ready. Let’s talk about sweats, baby! In all honesty, as a sleep-deprived mama bear...some days the thought of getting dressed even sounds hard. Am I right? On the days where I know I’m just going to be chasing my little guy around, going to the park, and sitting on the floor playing - I’m all about comfort. However, I still want to look cute and put-together.
Thankfully, the fashion gods have given us mamas a break and made sweatpants recently trendy – Hallelujah! BUT in order to pull off this Model Mama look and make your minimal effort look super CHIC, I would like to lay some ground rules:
1. Too tight = neither cute nor practical. They’re supposed to be loose.. comfort is key.
2. Never pair with bulky running shoes - pick a sleeker athletic shoe that will elongate your leg.
3. Whatever you wear on top needs to be more formfitting than what’s on bottom.
4. My favorite pairing is with a TAILORED white t-shirt. HOWEVER – not all t’s are created equal (more on that topic in a later post).
5. Layering + accessorizing is key
Truthfully, to pull off an envious park playdate look, you must accessorize! Here are some of my favorite accessories to pair with sweatpants: a jean jacket, a cute crossbody bag (perfect for a hands-free park day), a chic backpack, sporty/functional flats or non-bulky athletic shoes. A headscarf, hat, and some layered jewelry will take your casual-comfy outfit to a whole new level. And finally, don’t you dare leave the house without your favorite shades in hand.
